Alan S. Anderson, 91 and former long time Littleton resident passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Monday October 22, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Ina Claire "Candy" (Hyman) Anderson for over 62 amazing years.
Alan was born in Boston on January 7, 1927, a son to the late Harry and Thelma (Boles) Anderson. He graduated high school when he was 17 years old; and being part of the greatest generation, he went on to enlist in the Merchant Marines during WWII and was a radio operator on a Liberty Ship . Alan was also later drafted into the US Army and served during the Korean War. Alan was stationed at Fort Monmouth NJ where is taught electronics and met his future wife. Following his honorable service, he earned his BS in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University. During his 30 years at Williamson Corporation in Concord, Alan was granted two US patents, including a radiometric apparatus which could measure temperatures without contact. Later in life, Alan took an interest in repairing antique clocks. He started a small clock repair business which he coined, "Clocktech." Alan and Candy retired to Southgate at Shrewsbury where his interests were bowling, men's club and attending musical events with his wife.
Above all his personal accomplishments, family was the center of Alan's life. In addition to his loving wife, Alan is survived by his daughters; Sharon F. Ellis and her husband Reid Sr. of Harwich; and Susan B. Frankfort and her husband, Peter of Danvers. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Emalee E. Colvin and her husband Weston of Ruston, LA ; Marine Lance Corporal Reid Ellis, Jr. of Harwich; and Michael S. Frankfort and his wife, Michelle of Billerica. Alan is further survived by his sister, Jean Grant Henderson of Weymouth. Alan is sadly predeceased by his sister, Priscilla Bassett.
Family and friends can gather to honor and remember Alan for a period of visitation on Friday October 26, 2018 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM in the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King Street, Littleton. A brief funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will follow at Westlawn Cemetery, Littleton.
A celebration of life will be held at the chapel at Southgate Retirement Community, 35 Julio Drive, Shrewsbury on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM with a luncheon immediately following.
