Obituary

Alan “Al” Richard Mezzetti, 77, of Westford, formerly of Quincy, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, surrounded by family.

Born in Quincy on May 23, 1949, to Alvaro and Dorothy (Shinault) Mezzetti, Al often shared fond childhood memories of North Quincy, especially of playing baseball on the field on North Street, candlepin bowling, and riding bikes to Wollaston Beach. Al graduated from North Quincy High School in 1967 and went on to train as a court reporter before working in the Massachusetts Federal Court System, primarily in Boston.

Al moved to Lynn, Massachusetts, and was the father of four children, David, Kristina, Garrett, and Marysa. He later returned to the Quincy area, where he spent time on his own before finding love again with his partner, Judy Corbett, whom he cherished deeply. Together, they spent 12 loving years together in Westford.

Al was a lover of nature, weather, animals, Boston sports, and classic cars, and was a familiar face at local car shows with his white 1962 Thunderbird, affectionately named "Thunderina”. He took up golf and pickleball later in life, which gave him plenty of opportunity to show off his competitive nature, he even once suffered a rib fracture in pursuit of a win.

Al was famous in the family for giving away his fresh garden tomatoes, guarding his secret salad dressing recipe, his love of games and trivia, and his one-of-a-kind yodeling happy birthday song. He will be remembered for many of his “Al-isms” including his car's center console, which always held an emergency stash of salt and pepper, his habit of keeping jelly beans on his person at all times, and his uncanny ability to name the exact year any song came out just by hearing a few notes.

Al is survived by his partner, Judy Corbett; his children, David Mezzetti and his wife Anca; Kristina Mezzetti; Garrett Mezzetti; and Marysa Mezzetti and her husband DanielRegan; his grandchildren Shaun, Abigail, Jack, Ayla, and Cecilia; and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvaro J Mezzetti and Dorothy (Shinault) Mezzetti, and his sister, Donna Mezzetti Maggio.

A celebration of Al's life will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Badger Funeral Home in Littleton, Massachusetts. Attendees are encouraged to bring along an antique car, if they have one, to show at the celebration from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM.
