Aldo Luca, 94, of Groton passed on March 23, 2015 with his loving children, Linda and Tim and his son-in-law, Jerry Tarpey by his side.

Born in New York City on June 25, 1920, Aldo was the son of Italian immigrants Domenico Luca and his wife, Maria Monetucci. Raised in Brooklyn, he graduated from James Madison High School in 1937. After graduation, he began working for the Certified Dry Mat Corporation of New York and West Groton. At night he attended City College and Pace College for Accounting and Business Administration.
In 1942, he was drafted to serve in the Army Air Corps for the next four years.

After his discharge in 1946, he returned to Certified and rose from clerk to Assistant Treasurer to Vice President and Secretary of the company. In 1949, he married his first wife Ethel Halligan and they had two children, Linda and Timothy. Ethel, known as Pawney, passed in 1967.

A few years later, the Groton Leatherboard Company closed the NY office and offered him a position in their main office in West Groton. He commuted between NY and Groton for two years. Here, in 1973, he met and married, Adelaide Mountain Torrey, the love of his life. Together they had 41 wonderful years of love and devotion. She predeceased him in July 2014.

It was here in Groton with the support of his wife, he ran and was elected to Tax Collector and Town Treasurer. He also served as Executive Director of the Massachusetts Collectors and Treasurers Association.

In 1995, he fully retired and spent the rest of his time with his beloved Adelaide enjoying good times with neighbors, friends and family. He was known for his great sense of humor, his boundless energy, his kind heart, his left-handed golf swing and his passion for the New York Yankees.

Aldo is survived by his daughter Linda and her husband, Gerard Tarpey, his son, Timothy Luca and his wife, Rowena Luca and his two granddaughters, Anne Luca and Maria Luca and her husband, Dr. Benjamin Madej. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Angelina Luca, his nephews Robert Luca, Dennis Luca and their families, nieces Jane Halligan and Lorraine Krieg, nephews Brian Moore, Thomas Halligan and their families. On the Mountain side, sister-in law Ann Mountain, and nephews, Robert Loiselle, James Mountain, Laureen Sullivan, Andra Mountain, Richard Mountain, Stewart Mountain, Pamela Mountain and their families.

Visiting hours will be held at the Badger Funeral Home, 45 School Street, Groton on Friday March 27 from 6-8 pm. A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Grace Parish Worshipping at St. James Church, West Groton on Saturday March 28, 2015 at 11 am A reception will follow at the Groton Country Club , Lover's Lane Groton at 12:30
