Alfred J. McConnell Jr. 82, of Littleton, died at Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley in Littleton on February 25, 2014. He was born in Medford November 9, 1931, son of the late Alfred and Dorothy (Smith) McConnell. He graduated from Dormont High School in Dormont PA. Al served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict . He worked as a chemical sales manager for Howe and French of Boston, US Industrial Chemicals based in NJ, and Doe & Ingalls of Medford. He also worked part time security for companies such as Pinkerton.
Married in 1956, he resided in Cambridge for 5 years, Maynard for 9 years, , and has lived in Littleton for the past 43 years. Al was an avid member of the Rotary Club of Littleton and served as President 1977-1978 and 1992 -1993. He was Chair Person for RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) for which there is a scholarship in his name for graduating high school students. Al was also Club Advisor for Acton-Boxborough Rotary Club, and Tyngsboro-Dunstable Rotary Club.
He was a member of the Littleton Fife & Drum Corps, a volunteer for Boy Scout Troop 20, and Cub Scout Pack 2. He and his wife enjoyed square dancing and traveling through Europe.
Al is survived by his wife Geraldine (Sousa) McConnell of Littleton, sons Robert A. McConnell of Barre, MA, Mark V. McConnell of Kittery, ME, and Kevin G. McConnell of Leominster, MA, along with a sister, Dorothy Smith Kearney of Norton, and 2 grandsons, David J, McConnell and Stephen J. McConnell.

Funeral from the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King Street, Littleton on Tuesday, March 4 at 8am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anne's Church, 75 King St. Littleton at 9 am. Visiting Hours will be 3-7 pm, Monday. Burial at Westlawn Cemetery, Littleton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rotary Foundation, and sent to Rotary Club of Littleton, P.O. Box 313, Littleton, MA, 01460.
