Alfred Watson age 86 of Littleton passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Emerson Hospital in Concord. He was the husband of the late Mary Grace (LePage) Watson.
Alfred was born on May 7, 1931 the son of the late John J. and Mary (Krawczyk) Waksmunski. He was raised and educated in Sayreville, N.J. and graduated from Sayreville High School. Alfred attended and graduated from the Julliard School of Music in New York. Alfred and Mary Grace were married on Valentine's Day and settled in Littleton soon after.
Alfred's love and passion for music continued throughout his life. He performed on many radio stations and recitals throughout the United States including Aeolin Hall, Carnegie Recital Hall, Garden State Arts Center as well as numerous colleges universities and concert series on the east coast including Middlesex College, Merrimack College, Performing Arts Center in Littleton and Andover. He also performed in Warsaw and was given the rare honor of performing in the home of Frederick Chopin in Zelazowa Wola, Poland as a special guest during the Chopin Festival. His music bears the influence of Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin and Debussy. His CD entitled "Romantic Reflections" is a group of eleven piano pieces. His release entitled "America" was hailed by critics as a "patriotic masterpiece". Alfred received letters of thanks from President George Bush and numerous senators.
During his retirement he continued to play music and teach those who had the same appreciation as himself. After Mary's death, his pal and constant companion, Gillie the cat, was with him to the end.
He is survived by his daughter, Nancy T. Provell of Spotswood, NJ, his son Mark D. Empire of South River, NJ, his former wife Lorraine Watson also of South River, NJ, his granddaughter Lindsey Provell of Spotswood, NJ, his sister Lorraine Ricci of Sayreville, NJ and brother Ronald Waksmunski of Raleigh, NC.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Alfred on Saturday, June 9th, for a time of visitation from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm followed by a service of remembrance at 2:00 pm in the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King St., Littleton.
