Alice Mary (Bernard) Goyette

Alice Mary (Bernard) Goyette, age 90 of Shirley passed away on Thursday May 11, 2017 following a stroke.  She was the beloved wife of the late Robert J. Goyette.

Born in Salem, MA on July 17, 1926, Alice was the daughter of the late Alexander and Mary Bernard. She was predeceased by her sister Cecile Dion.  She was an active member of St Anthony of Padula Church in Shirley.

Alice worked at a home interior store in Ayer, MA for many years where she shared her passion for home decorating.  She liked to garden and putter outside when she was not traveling to a sunny beach destination with her husband Robert. They were married for 66 years and he was the love of her life.  Robert passed away seven years ago and from that day forward her heart was broken from the deep love they shared, but she managed to greet each day with a smile through the love and support of her children and friends.  Alice treasured spending time with her good friends at Sean Patrick's Restaurant where they all had many laughs while enjoying lunch together. Her biggest joy and what she thought her life accomplishment were her 6 children and being a homemaker and wife.  She loved and cherished time together with her family, cooking a fabulous meal and setting an elegant table for any gathering.  Loving and caring for her grandchildren delighted her and brought a sparkle to her eye. If she could bake and share a dessert with them her day was complete.  Her family also loved her famous whoopie pies and homemade cakes. She took great pride in individually wrapping each whoppie pie and handing them out with a smile.  This gesture of love symbolized what she truly enjoyed in life, and that was taking care of her family and being a loving mother. 

She was a woman with a strong faith in God and determination to live life her way and remain as independent as possible after her husband's passing.  The family is certain that Alice and Robert are reunited again in the love they shared for so many years, as God brought her to heaven and eternal life.

She is survived by her children; a daughter and son- in- law, Rachael and Ted Lee of Sarasota, FL; a daughter Carol Karsadi of Beverly, MA; a son David Goyette of Ayer, MA; a son and daughter-in-law Randy and Rita Goyette of Peabody, MA; a son and daughter-in-law Jim and MaryEllen Goyette of Shirley MA; a son and daughter-in-law Robert and Shannon Goyette of San Francisco, CA; eight grandchildren, Lisa, Robert, Robin, David, Christina, Alexander, Lucas, and Jacob; and eight great grandchildren, Kyle, Arion, Billy, Brian, Holly, Braydon, Ashton and Harper.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Alice for her funeral mass on Friday, May 19th at 10:00 AM in St Anthony of Padua Church, 14 Phoenix Street in Shirley, MA.
