Allan T. Friedrich

December 9, 1952 — March 12, 2015

Allan Thomas Friedrich, age 62, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 12, 2015.
He was born in Ayer, MA on December 9, 1952, the son of John R. and Eileen Friedrich and
lived most of his life in Groton, MA.
He was the beloved husband of Donna (Drew) Friedrich.
Allan attended Country Day School in Groton, graduated from Groton High School and went
to University of Massachusetts, where he decided his avocation was in the building business.
He went to work for his father, John, who owned Friedrich Construction Company, taking over
the business when his father retired.
He was a good, honest, hard-working man who was loved and respected by all who knew him.
An avid sportsman, he loved hunting and fishing, music and dancing, his many dear friends,
and most of all he loved the Newfound Lake area.
He and Donna spent a great deal of time there, restoring an old house, poking through old mines
searching for interesting rocks and immersing themselves in the wild nature of Tenney Mountain.
Certainly none of us imagined that the complex, engaging, larger than life personality, who got
excited about everything, would be the first to leave us. We thought he would go on forever.
Besides his wife, Donna, Allan leaves two children, Rachael Sherwin of Pepperell, Ma and Randy Sherwin of Gum Spring, Va, a brother John Friedrich Jr, of Amesbury, MA, and five sisters, Anita Anderson of Groton, MA, Faye Friedrich of Center Tuftenboro, NH, Claire Ketelaar of Harwich, MA, Christine Grimshire of Dartmouth, NS and Mary Friedrich of Gardner, MA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their extended families. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

His family will receive relatives and friends at the Badger Funeral Home 45 School Street, Groton, MA on Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory with checks made out to Fitchburg Art Museum 25 Merriam Parkway, Fitchburg, MA. 01420
