Amelia Marie (Valerio) Torrisi, 100 years old, of Lunenburg, MA passed away peacefully at home on January 19, 2015 with her loving family by her side. She was born on June 12, 1914 in Lawrence daughter of the late Cesidio and Rosa (Lombardi) Valerio. She was the wife for 62 years to the late Carmelo Torrisi. She grew up in Lawrence and was graduate of Lawrence High School Class of 1932. She grew up in Lawrence for most of her life and was married in 1937 and lived most of her adult life in Methuen and living in CA on three different occasions in the 1950's and 60's for a total of 5 years. She has made her home in Lunenburg for the last four years living with her son Dennis and his wife Judy.
Amelia was an active member of the Methuen Senior Center prior to moving to Lunenburg. She loved dancing, bowling, playing the card game 45, going to the beach, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Amelia loved being with people. She was a dedicated Red Sox fan and loved watching golf on TV.
She is survived by her sons Gerald Torrisi of Cypress, CA and Dennis Torrisi and his wife Judy of Lunenburg, a sister Ida of Torrance, CA, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by 3 brothers and 2 sisters, and daughter in law Joan Torrisi.
Visiting Hours will be held at the Badger Funeral Home. 347 King St. Littleton on Monday Jan 26, 2015 from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Monica's Church, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen on Thursday at 11 am. Burial at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
