Barbara Rosa Caple, 95, of Littleton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on October 10th, surrounded in spirit by the family who was her whole world.
Barbara was born on February 18, 1931. She was reunited in passing with her beloved husband of 47 years, Leroy Caple; her parents, Nicholas and Irene Pacy; and her devoted sisters, Mary Johnston and Jean Cate.
She leaves behind her daughters, Charlene Steele and her husband, Michael, and Michelle Gerhardt and her husband, Kirk. Her grandchildren, Ryan Steele, Thomas Anderson, and Erica Gerhardt; and her treasured great-grandchildren Caden, Noah, and Mila. Barbara also leaves behind her nephews Ricky Johnston and Nicholas Cate, as well as many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Barbara lived in her beloved hometown all her life, a true homebody who loved her town and the quiet comforts of home. As a young woman in the late 1940s, she attended the Fay Secretarial School in Boston, a distinction she carried with quiet pride all her life. Thoughtful to her core, she was forever thinking of others, and the people she loved never doubted for a moment that they were cherished. Her cousins were a big part of her life, and she treasured her conversations with them.
She showed her love best in her kitchen. A wonderful cook, she always had something made. From lasagnas and soups to the cookies and pies she baked for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the wide circle of nieces and nephews she adored. No one ever left her house empty-handed. There was always a Tupperware container waiting by the door, and the family suspects a good number of them are still out there, never returned. Well into her 80s, Barbara and her sister Mary lovingly cared for her great-great-nieces and nephews, a role she embraced with endless energy and joy.
She took great pride in her home, keeping it warm, welcoming, and always immaculate. She could happily lose an afternoon to a good Sudoku puzzle or competitively playing games with her cousins. She will be remembered for her warmth, her selflessness, and the simple, steady way she made everyone around her feel deeply loved.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Badger Funeral Homes, Inc., located at 347 King Street, Littleton, Massachusetts.
