Barbara Jane (Merklee) MacKay

Barbara Jane MacKay, 85, longtime Littleton resident passed away peacefully on March 11, 2018, surrounded by her family at the Epsom Health Care Center in Epsom, NH. She was the loving wife of George MacKay.

Barbara was born on March 18, 1932, a daughter to the late George and Ruby (Wentworth) Merklee. She married her husband, George in August of 1955 then moved to Littleton. For many years Barbara was employed as an office administrator at the Middlesex School in Concord, MA.

An avid walker, Barbara could always be found walking the neighborhood. She was fond of her cats and as her illness progressed, she took great comfort in listening to music of all genres. Above all, family and faith were cornerstones in Barbara's life. She was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed by all whose lives were touched by her.

Barbara is survived by her husband, George of Littleton and her children; Sandra Swanson of Allenstown, NH and Barry MacKay of Littleton. She is further survived by her granddaughters; Melissa Lindsay of Nashua, NH, Heather Mortenson of Merrimack, NH, and her great-granddaughter, Madison. She is further survived by her twin sister, Beverly. Barbara is sadly predeceased by her siblings; George and Doris.

Funeral services and interment for Barbara are private.
