Barbara Anne O'Connell of Groton MA, formerly of Hollis NH and longtime resident of Acton MA, where she raised her family and built a beautiful life, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Emerson Hospital.
Barbara was born on October 29, 1942 in Cambridge MA to the late Joseph Francis Donato and Mary Rita (Gallagher) Donato. Barbara is predeceased by the love of her life, Richard J O'Connell Jr. She is survived by her 4 children: Barbara Hooper and husband Charles, son Jim O'Connell and wife Erin, Paula Taglieri and husband Chris, Kathleen Gordon and husband Neil. In addition to 6 grandchildren; Molly O'Connell, Jared Gordon, Brooke Taglieri, Megan O'Connell, Olivia Gordon and Jake Taglieri, all of whom she loved to love.
Barbara worked at the Acton Town Hall Assessors office for many years. She made lifelong friends and many memories there. She had a sincere smile that would make anyone feel like family immediately. She was an amazing matriarch to the wonderful family she led with "Okie." Barbara's late health was challenged by COPD, but she never complained or lost that smile which is how she will be remembered by those who knew her best.
Family and friends are invited to gather and remember Barbara on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 from 9:00AM to 10:00AM at St. Anne's Church, 75 King Street, Littleton MA. A Funeral mass will follow beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will be a private service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests a donation to the American Lung Foundation.
