Betty Louise Chalmers

Betty Louise (Dow) Chalmers, age 93 and long-time resident of Pepperell, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024.

Betty Louise Dow was born in Pepperell, Massachusetts, on March 9, 1931, a daughter to the late Leonard and Florence (Denault) Dow. She graduated from Pepperell High School, where she played on the women’s basketball team and was known for being the highest scorer. 

Betty worked for many local companies, including Bemis Manufacturing and Seven Hills Pediatric Center in Groton, until her retirement.

Betty was fortunate to spend most days between her son’s home in Wells, VT, and her daughter’s home in Pepperell. She enjoyed spending her time with family and friends in both places. 

She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, and making sour pickles for all who knew her. She couldn’t pass by a good yard sale! 

She is survived by her children, David Chalmers and his wife Cheryl of Wells, VT, daughter Patricia DeHoyos, and her husband Mario of Pepperell, MA. She is also survived by her sister Priscilla Markham and husband Paul of FL, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Betty was predeceased by her daughter Karen Hill, brothers Leonard Jr., Richard, and Robert Dow, and sisters Virginia Timpani, Nancy Calvango, and Ramona Baker.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Betty for calling hours on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Badger Funeral Home, 45 School St., Groton. Funeral Service and burial will be private.
