Brenda Lee Thurston

Brenda Lee Thurston, 74, of Groton, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer. She was the loving wife of 53 years to William Andrew Thurston, Sr.

Brenda was born in Bangor, ME on October 21, 1946 a daughter to the late Lionel and Velma (Gray) Marquis. Brenda was raised and educated in Bangor and graduated from Bangor High School in 1965. That same year, she met her husband, William. The couple fell in love and married at St. Mary's Church in Bangor on November 4, 1967. The couple later settled and raised their family in Tewksbury where Brenda worked as a surgical nurse at St. John's Hospital, Lowell. Her biggest joy in life was her family, and she always made taking care of people her number one priority. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Brenda is predeceased by her only sibling, Joyce (Marquis) Philbrick.

Along with her husband, Brenda is survived by her children; William A. Thurston, Jr. and his partner, Tina M. Interbartolo of Billerica and Sherri Lyn Nelson and her husband Stephen of Billerica. Brenda is also survived by her five grandchildren; Joslyn Rose, Jessica Lyn, Jenna Lyn, Nicole Rose Nelson all of Billerica and Giana Interbartolo of Billerica. Brenda is additionally survived by Joyce's sons; Sean, Todd, and Scott Philbrick. William's siblings; Edward and Claire Thurston, Daniel and Del Thurston, Charles and Gale Thurston all of RI; Terry and Deb Thurston of PA, Geraldine and Ray Lotter of MA, and Mary and Larry Bedard of RI. as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Brenda for a period of visitation on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm in the Badger Funeral Home, 45 School Street, Groton. Brenda's funeral service will be held in the funeral home immediately following the visitation at 7:00 pm.
