Carmella Frances Weikel, a compassionate and loving soul, was born on March 1, 1929, in Boston, MA, and passed away on December 28, 2024. Carmella, a woman of remarkable strength and resilience, was a beacon of love and warmth in the lives of all those who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a devoted wife, a caring mother, and a cherished friend, who had an unyielding love for her family. Residing in Groton, Massachusetts, for most of her life, Carmella nurtured a household filled with laughter, creativity, and plenty of hand-knit quilts.
Carmella's vibrant spirit was interwoven into her career in customer service in the banking industry, where her talent for connecting with people shone through. She had an uncanny ability to make everyone she interacted with feel heard and valued. But it was outside her professional life where Carmella's creative flair truly blossomed. She was an avid bingo player, a talented knitter, and an exceptional quilt maker. Her unique and love-filled sock monkeys brought joy to many and were a testament to her creativity. Carmella also had an impressive scarf collection, one for every possible occasion, reflecting her keen sense of style. On quiet evenings, she loved to watch old westerns like Bonanza, a pastime that brought her immense pleasure.
Carmella's life was a testament to her enduring strength. She was a pillar of courage, having survived her beloved husband, Donald Weikel, her brother, and her two children. She is survived by her loving granddaughter, Pamella Magliozzi, who will continue to uphold the values of love and family which were of utmost importance to Carmella, her granddaughter Ann-Marie Konan and her grandson Wayne Weikel and two great great grandsons, Deveryn and Colton. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Josephine Censabella.
