Carol was the cornerstone of our family, building a foundation of love that will endure for generations.
Known affectionately as Mom and Nanny, Carol was defined by her devotion to five pillars: Family, Friends, Faith, Flowers, and Fun. Family events were her greatest joy, always bursting with laughter, warmth, and love. Whether tending to her vibrant flower garden, enjoying a good book on her patio, or listening to every detail of her children’s, grandchildren’s, and great-grandchildren’s lives, her joyful spirit shone brightly.
Born on February 5, 1939, into a loving Irish Catholic family, Carol graduated from Keith Hall. She went on to a fulfilling career as a secretary and administrative assistant, serving the IRS, Westford Public Schools, and later retiring from the Middlesex School in Concord, MA, after many years of dedicated service.
An avid traveler, she explored Europe and made three meaningful pilgrimages to Medjugorje alongside her beloved cousins, Pat Tradd and Mary Fournier. Carol’s deep faith guided her life; she was a devoted parishioner at St. Catherine’s Church and a passionate volunteer for several ministries, most notably Visiting the Homebound and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Her living legacy remains in the hearts of her family, whom she mentored in the art of planning thoughtful, beautiful celebrations.
Carol passed peacefully, surrounded by her family, on June 18, 2026, and will be sorely missed by all who knew her, especially her close-knit family.
Carol is survived by her children, Thomas E. Donaruma and his wife Darlene of Townsend, Richard E. Donaruma and his wife Donna of Pepperell, Kevin M. Donaruma and his wife Dyana of Groton, Karen M. Considine of Leominster, and Michael A. Donaruma and his wife Ramona of Westford. Her in-laws, Allan Donaruma, William Donaruma, and his wife, Mary, and Andrea Bartick. She is survived by her 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She also leaves behind many beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Ernest T. Donaruma; her parents, Edward H. and Lillian G. (Quigley) Monaghan; her sisters, Joan Anderson, Shirley Labonte, and Marilyn Monaghan; and her brother, Edward Monaghan.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Badger Funeral Home, 347 King Street, Littleton, MA.
