Channing J. Lai (71) of Acton, MA passed away on November 7, 2025 after a brief illness. He was born and raised in Oakland, California to Alfred and Grace Lai. He attended Oakland public schools throughout his childhood and was proud to have been accepted to MIT. He worked in high technology electronics as a software engineer and advancing to marketing and sales. After retirement, Channing became involved in the local community, volunteering at the Acton Food Pantry, Habitat for Humanity, the Acton Council on Aging as a Handy Helper, and the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide. Channing was an active and competitive tennis player his entire life and enjoyed playing in various local tennis leagues.

His greatest joy was raising his two children, Andrew Scott Lai (Caheri Aguilar Arriagada) and Alison Katherine Rose Faria (Juan Faria) all of Chicago, IL with Lorraine Hall of Leominster, MA.

Channing is survived by his mother (age 101), his older sisters Nancy Lai and Mamie Lai, younger brother Chandler Lai, and niece Chanelle Yang, all residing in California. He was predeceased by his father and sister Annie Lai.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025 from 3:00pm-5:00pm at the Badger Funeral Home at 347 King Street, Littleton, MA 01460.
