Charles R. (Chuck) Kelsey, 82, of Pepperell and formerly of Denver, Colorado died May 12, 2009 at the Apple Valley Center in Ayer. He was the husband of the late Eunice Ruth (Woyke) Kelsey.
Born in Denver, Colorado on November 4, 1926, the son of the late Jessie James Kelsey and Harriet (Bowman) Kelsey, He was educated in the Denver, Colorado School System. In 1947, he enlisted in the Colorado National Guard, Infantry Division and was honorably discharged on July 27, 1950. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at the Wheatridge State Home and Training School in Colorado as a Printer and Mimeograph Operator for more than 20 years.
Mr. Kelsey was a member of the Pepperell Senior Center and the American Legion in Monroe, Connecticut. He enjoyed puzzles, word searches and was a collector of coins and stamps. He was an avid of fan of numerous game shows and College Football and Basketball. He also enjoyed visiting members at the Shirley Rod and Gun Club with his son. Mr. Kelsey was known for his generous donations to numerous organizations.
He is survived by a son, Leigh A. Blakely and his wife, Darlene T. Blakely of Pepperell; two daughters, Laura L. Blakely of Monroe, Connecticut and Karen S. Ash of Denver, Colorado; six grandchildren, Michelle, Denise, Sarajane, Laura, Bryan and Timothy; three great-grandchildren, Katrina, Shane, and Alexis; nephews and many dear friends.
Calling hours on Friday, May 15, 2009 from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by Funeral Services at the Funeral Home. Burial will take place at a later date.
