Dale Emmett "Briggsy" Briggs, 58
Beloved Dad, Brother, Uncle, and 'Grampy'

Dale Emmett Briggs of Worcester, MA and formerly of Pepperell, MA and Winchendon, MA passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 5 in his home.

Born in Fort Belvoir, Virginia July 29, 1956, the son of the late Allston P. Briggs and the late Shirley Pittsley.

Dale is survived by his sons Nicholas Briggs and Alexander Briggs, step-mother Teresa (Dupre) Briggs, sisters Cheryl A. (Briggs) Richards, Michelle (Kirk) Magee, Katherine M. (Briggs) Dupre, Toireasa M. (Briggs) Nickerson, Sheila D. Briggs, grand-son Joshua Briggs and his mother Tara Phelan, ex-wife Jeannine Karre, and several nieces and nephews.

Dale graduated from North Middlesex Regional High School, Townsend MA, in 1974. Following graduation, Dale enlisted in the U.S Army in 1976, serving four years as a Specialist Fourth Class. Dale went on to earn an Associates of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Mount Wachusett Community College.

Dale was passionate about sports, playing football, baseball, and basketball for both North Middlesex and Mount Wachusett Community College. Before football games Dale would engage the team in prayer, and was fondly known as "Reverend Briggsy" throughout high school, and beyond.

Dale worked in construction, operated a landscaping business, and was a truck driver for many years. Devoted to his faith, Dale was an active member of local churches and the community, providing transportation for members of the church and residents of the Veteran's Homeless Shelter. Most recently, Dale drove a Taxi for the city of Worcester.

Dale enjoyed watching football and baseball games, and spending time with his family. During holidays, Dale always gave the blessing before dinner. He was proud to see his son Nicholas graduate from Brown University this past spring. Dale's special joy was the birth of his grand-son, Joshua, to his son Alex and his partner, Tara.

Dale celebrated twenty-eight years of sobriety this year and he was very proud of his achievement. So are we, brother. Dale will be sadly missed by his family, and many friends.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at the funeral home on Friday, September 12th from 1:00-3:00 p.m.
