Debra Lane (Walsh) Gibbons, age 55, of Ayer passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at her residence.
Born in Ayer on October 28, 1962, Deb was the daughter of the late Henry E. and Eleanor M. (Almeida) Walsh. Raised and educated in Littleton, she graduated from Nashoba Valley Technical High School. She married and began her family living in Vancouver and San Diego before returning to Littleton and then finally, to Ayer.
Debra was a talented and spirited woman who cherished the time with her sons, grandson and family. She had many varied interests including gardening, photography, refinishing furniture, calligraphy, and almost anything involved with being outside in nature. Deb shared her father's love of camping and her brother's love of sunsets. Also a talented athlete, she was a competitive hockey player and was one of the first female baseball players in Littleton's Little League. Deb adored animals, especially dogs, and with her kind, loving heart, was famous for rescuing and training many dogs over her life time.
She is survived by her loving sons, Dennis Gibbons and his wife Heather, of Leominster, Robert Gibbons of Portsmouth, NH, James Gibbons of Boston and her cherished grandson, Aiden Gibbons. She is also survived by her sisters, Laurel McKenna, Mary Walsh and Sharon Tiberia, as well as her brother, Sean Walsh and many devoted nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Edward J. Walsh.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Debra on Wednesday, March 21 from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King St., Littleton. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, at 10:00 am in St. Anne's Church, 75 King St., Littleton. Burial in Westlawn Cemetery, Littleton, will be private.
