Dilara O'Connell, 20 of Westford Massachusetts, passed peacefully on November 1, 2020 at the Tufts Medical Center. Dilara was born on July 29, 2000 and was the daughter of Feyza and Michael O'Connell and brother of Daniel O'Connell.
Dilara was a 2018 graduate of Westford Academy and attended the University of Massachusetts – Lowell where she was pursuing a degree in nursing. Dilara was dedicated to her nursing education, both in and out of the classroom. Dilara was honored for her volunteer work at Emerson Hospital.
A lively, cheerful and outgoing young lady, Dilara was known to her friends and family to be helpful, engaging in passionate conversations, and was a friend to all that knew her and loved her.
Dilara, whose favorite season was winter, was an avid skier. She was a member of the Nashoba Valley ski patrol for five years and a member of the Westford Academy and Loon ski teams. She also loved Taekwondo and achieved the high honor of a second-degree black belt.
Dilara was incredibly creative. She loved creating cartoons and painting, having been honored for her amazing talents as a painter at the local art events and at Westford Academy. She also loved creating music on the piano and guitar. Dilara composed a number of original pieces that she would perform for friends, family and schoolmates.
Dilara loved playing video games. She loved the Legend of Zelda series – most recently Breath of the Wild. She loved the series so much she named her dog Zelda.
Most of all she loved her family. She was very close with her brother Daniel, with whom she shared many adventures and travels. She was a loving daughter to her parents, Michael and Feyza. Dilara was adored by her extended family including her grandparents Ray, Betty and Suheyla, her aunts and uncles, her cousins, and family dog Zelda.
Dilara was a fearless, creative, and beautiful soul. She leaves behind family and friends who will cherish her memory and treasure the moments and life they had with her.
Family and Friends will gather to honor and remember Dilara on Friday November 6, 2020 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm in the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King Street, Littleton. Her funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 12:00 pm but is private for immediate family only.
