Doris M. Hanigan

Doris M. Hanigan, 94, died February 25, 2015, at D'Youville Senior Care in Lowell, MA. She previously resided on Westview Avenue in Lowell. Doris was the wife of Francis O. Hanigan, who was a former Chief of Police in Littleton, and a Massachusetts state police officer. He died in 1992.
Doris was born on December 20, 1920, in Littleton, MA. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Cecilia (Barraclough) Wood, and lived in Ayer, MA until her marriage, when she and Chief Hanigan made their home on Mill Road in Littleton. She worked for the towns of Ayer, Groton, Shirley, and Littleton from 1937 to 1960, in a variety of positions including clerk, stenographer, secretary, welfare agent, and social worker.
Doris was a volunteer to several local organizations, and a member of the Littleton Historical Society. She loved needlework, gardening, playing the organ, and lunches with her friends in the "Bowling Club".
She leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King Street, Littleton, MA from 10:00 to 11:00 with a funeral service to follow at 11:00, Burial at Westlawn Cemetery, Littleton,
