Dorothy M. Whitaker-Fichtner

Dorothy M. Whitaker-Fichtner peacefully passed away at home on Wednesday, April 5, 2023.

Dorothy is predeceased by her husband, Louis Fichtner who passed away on May 11, 2003.

Dorothy was born in Boston, MA on December 12, 1934; the daughter of the late Francis P. and Yvonne F. (Ashenden) Brown. She was one of five children; brothers Francis, Gordon and Alfred and sister Barbara who all predeceased her.

Dorothy was a much loved daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. Her family and friends were her entire world and she brought light, love and laughter to everyone she knew. Her door was always open for visitors and she always made herself available if you needed to talk. There was never a moment that she wasn’t thinking about the well-being of someone other than herself and she always found a way to help those in need. Dorothy’s zest for life and gentle spirit will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Dorothy is survived by her children Jack and his wife Nancy (Harter) of Shirley, MA, Brian of Key West FL, Darlene and her partner Tom Conner of Townsend, MA, Gary of Boxborough, MA, and Valerie of Acton, MA. She is predeceased by her son Robert.

Dorothy also leaves behind her grandchildren Rhianna Caloggero and her husband Mark of Tyngsboro, MA, Lyndsay of Fitzwilliam, NH, Jordan of Athol, MA, Layne of Waltham, MA and Preston of Shirley, MA. She is also survived by her great-grandson Devin Caloggero.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Dorothy at her Graveside Service on Thursday, April 13, 2023, in South Cemetery, Boxborough at 11:00 am.
