Douglas Friedrich

Douglas A. Friedrich, 89, of Ayer, died at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell on June 26, 2015. He was born in Ayer on May 20, 1926 son of the late Charles and Margaret (St. John) Friedrich and was predeceased by his wife Virginia (Pelkey) Friedrich who died in 1993 Doug then served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 -1946 and the U.S. Coast Guard from 1946 until his retirement in 1963. He served on the USS Missouri, USS Chilton, and the USS Barataria. Doug also worked for Raytheon Corp as a security guard for many years. He was a Post Commander of Joseph M. Connors American Legion Post #139 in Ayer for 2 terms as well as Post Service Officer. He was also a member of VFW Post in Salem, NH. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Ayer and in his spare time he enjoyed fishing and hunting

He is survived by a son Michael P. Friedrich and his wife Carol (Bellefeuille) Friedrich of Concord, NH. A son Larry D. Friedrich , whom was predeceased in 2001 and his wife Susan (Goterch) Friedrich of Salem NH and a brother-in-law Dana Pelkey of New Haven CT.

Doug also has 7 Grandchildren. They are Heidi (Friedrich) Brown. Joshua Friedrich, Tiffany Friedrich, Dr. Sherie Friedrich, Sara Friedrich, Corey Friedrich and Kyle Friedrich. Doug also has 10 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends

Visiting Hours will be held at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King Street, Littleton, MA on Thursday July 9, from 4-7 pm with an American Legion Service at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion, Dept of MA, The American Cancer Society, or the Ayer Gun and Sportsman Club
