Eileen M. (Haley) Navien

August 8, 1923 — July 4, 2017

Eileen M. (Haley) Navien age 93 and longtime resident of Groton passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Chelmsford. She was the wife of the late Richard K. Flagg and the late Charles I. Navien.

Born on August 8, 1923 in Leominster she was the daughter of the late Michael and Annie (Connors) Haley. Raised and early educated in Leominster she graduated from Leominster High School with the class of 1942

During World War II Eileen worked as an administrative assistant for the Veterans Affair's office in Boston and New York City then was transferred to Ft. Devens. Eileen settled in Groton in 1953 where she was a devoted wife, and mother. She later married Charles. Eileen continued her administrative career working with the Groton Public Schools, Lawrence Academy and Groton School.

A devout catholic, she was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Groton and later at St. Joseph's Church in Pepperell. She enjoyed attending mass and joining her dear friends for breakfast following the service. Eileen was a member of the Groton Womans club and also enjoyed spending time at the Groton Senior Center. She cherished the time with her family and also enjoyed bowling and playing golf.

She is survived by her children, Janice M. Flagg of Pepperell, Linda R. Bruner of Nashua, NH, Douglas S. Flagg of Groton and Lisa R. Mareiro of Pepperell and her grandchildren, Adam Jeffrey, Joseph Miscovitch, Christopher Rogers, Kaitlin Yamamoto, Kristin Goodwin, Megan Mareiro, Matthew Mareiro and Alyssa Mareiro and her great-grandchildren, Zachary, Royce, Sawyer, Jack and Isaac. She was also predeceased by her brother Arnold Haley and sister Mildred Haley.

Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects on Saturday, July 8 between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Parish worshipping at St. Joseph's Church, 28 Tarbell St., Pepperell. Her funeral mass will follow at 11:00 am. Burial in St. Leo's Cemetery, Leominster will be private.
