Eleanor B. "Mimi" (Gomes) Roderick, 87, died at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, October 7, 2017. She was the wife of the late William A. Roderick with whom she shared thirty-two years of marriage.
Eleanor was born in Cambridge on January 8, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Elizabeth (Dee) Gomes. She was a graduate of St. John's High School in Cambridge. She spent her early years of marriage in Cambridge and was a foster parent to many children. She was a resident of Westford since 1967 and a longtime parishioner of St. Catherine's Church. Eleanor was employed as an office manager at Chu Associates in Littleton until her retirement in 1993.
A generous and giving woman, Eleanor liked to donate to the Veterans organizations and Native American reservations and foundations to help support their cause. She was an avid tennis fan and loved to watch old westerns on television. Eleanor was active and enjoyed ice skating, swimming, going to the beach, trips across country by car and gardening. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and there was no place her family would rather be than her house during the holidays.
She will be forever missed by her three children, Joyce Wright, Lynn Roderick and Charley Roderick all of Westford; four grandchildren, Joshua Wright and his wife, Charlene of PA, Alison Cambridge and her husband, Joshua of Ayer, Jamie O'Donnell and her husband, Joseph of Holland, PA and Rachel Weldon of Westford; six great-grandchildren, Arianna, Nickolas, Makenzie, Jillian, Noe' and Isabella and many friends who loved her dearly.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Eleanor on Monday, Oct. 16 from 4:00-7:00 in the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King Street, Littleton. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9:00 am in St. Catherine's Church, 107 N. Main Street in Westford. Interment will follow in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Westford.
