Elizabeth Donaldson (Bennett) Lee, also known as Betty, 88, of Matawanakee Trail, Littleton, MA went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Nov 9, 2013.
Betty was born in Somerville, MA on Dec 19, 1924, the daughter of the late James Brown Bennett and Mary Hindley (Roxburgh) Bennett. She grew up in Medford, attending school and graduating from Medford High School in 1942. A Littleton resident for 59 years, Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church of Littleton. For many years, she enjoyed singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, working with the Junior choir and as a youth group advisor. In her younger years, Betty worked for Boston Edison. She was well-known as the Avon Lady in town for many years, worked at the Hillside (Concord) Answering Service, ADESA Auto Auction and retired from Sonoco.
Betty was a kind, generous, loving individual who always had a joke to share with you. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who carried 8 x 10 photos of her grandchildren even though she had wallet size photos. Betty was a warm and wonderful friend and a huge Boston Red Sox enthusiast. An avid reader, Betty also loved doing crossword puzzles and playing scrabble, gin-rummy and Bingo!
Survived by her daughters, Robin Stephanie (Lee)(Dancause) Cole, and her husband Charles, of Simpsonville, SC and Tracey Elizabeth (Lee) Swana and her husband, David, of Littleton, MA. Grandaughters, Stephanie Lee (Dancause) Snyer and her husband Jonathan, of Gardner, MA; Jillian Beth (Dancause) Colstrom and her husband Scott, of Easley, SC; Kalina Elizabeth Swana of Littleton, MA and grandson Anthony Michael Swana of Littleton, MA. Great-grandchildren Scott Michael Colstrom, Avenlee Annette Strand, Lauren Abigail Snyer, Bennett James Colstrom, Kinlee Marie Cole, Austen Elizabeth Cole and Harrison James Cole. Her sister, Jean Elinor (Bennett) Oakland of Ayer, MA. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Betty was preceded in death by her brothers John Roxburgh Bennett, Robert Leslie Bennett, James Brown Bennett II, Gordon Bennett and her sister, Mary Roxburgh (Bennett) Brown.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King Street (Rte 2A/110), Littleton on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, from 4:00 ? 8:00 PM. Celebration of Life service will take place at First Baptist Church Littleton, 461 King Street, Littleton, MA, on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 11:00 AM, with interment at Westlawn Cemetery, Littleton immediately following the service.
