Eric P Hannemann, Beloved Son, Father, and FriendGROTON – Eric P. Hannemann, 49, passed away unexpectedly on Friday afternoon, February 5, 2016, at his home in Groton. He was the husband of Kimberly Hannemann (Maher) of Dunstable for a wonderful 20 years. Eric was born in Groton in 1966, son of Peter and Friedhilde Hannemann also of Groton. Eric was a graduate of Groton Dunstable Regional School, continued his education at Essex Community College, and achieved his Bachelors degree from UMASS Lowell. Eric also went on to pursue a Bachelors in Environmental Engineering at UMASS and was just two courses from achieving that goal. Eric was a talented hockey player and a great friend to all who knew him. Kim and Eric married in 1995, and moved to Groton in 1998 to raise their family. Eric is survived by three beautiful children – Kelsey, 19, a student at Emmanuel College in Boston, Connor, 17, a junior at GDRHS, and Cory, 13, an eighth grader in the Groton Middle School. Eric is also survived by his beloved sister, Sabine Sweeney, and her husband Mark Sweeney of Berkely MA, Erin and Chip Blodgett of Rye, NH, Martin Maher and Stacey Marston of Pepperell, and inlaws Ellen and Martin Maher of Dunstable, two nieces and two nephews. Eric has many relatives in Germany, and many extended Maher family members throughout the Massachusetts and New Hampshire area. An avid hockey player and fan, Eric proudly supported and coached within the Crusaders Youth Hockey Association, and his son’s share his passion for the sport. He also enjoyed spending summers at the beach and winters skiing and enjoying his son’s hockey games. Eric was the proud founder and owner of Drumlin Hill Landscape Construction Company, a company he built from the ground up over 15 years. He always held his clients in the highest regard and worked hard to beautify their homes and businesses. At the request of his family, family and friends are welcome to call at the Badger Funeral Home 45 School Street, Groton on Thursday, February 11, from 2:00PM – 4:00PM and 6:00PM – 8:00PM. A funeral mass will be held in his honor at St. James in Groton at 10AM on Friday, February 12.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you send donations to the Crusaders Youth Hockey Association to give children interested in the sport a chance to learn and love the game.
