Smith of West Groton , August 3,2014 Evelyn M. Smith died at her home after a brief illness. Daughter of the late Orland E. and Catherine T. (Downs) Spinney and was the wife of the late Vernon L. Smith. A life long resident of West Groton where she attended the schools and was graduate of Groton High School where she was the Class valedictorian class of 1945. Mrs. Smith was a devoted and lifelong parishioner of St. James Parish of West Groton. A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her 2 sons Allan E. Smith and Vernon L. Smith Jr. of West Groton 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
