Long time resident of Littleton and operator of Spring Brook Farm
Matheson of Littleton August 12,2016 Frank William Matheson Sr. age 90. He was born in Quincy October 31, 1925 son of the late Donald A. and Charlotte E. (Moorwood) Matheson. He was a graduate North Quincy High School and later enlisted in the United States Marine Corps serving in the Asiatic Pacific Area as a navigator during WW II. He also attended University of Massachusetts and later Transferred to Boston University.
In earlier years he also boxed in the Golden Gloves and was a Feather Weight Division Champion . In 1951 He moved to Littleton to operate the family farm Spring Brook Farm operating since the early 1700’s and added to the farm a trucking operation to support his family.
The farm operation continues today under the direction of his 2 sons, grandsons and mother.
A farmer all his life he was involved in many agricultural organizations he was a representative of the USDA , NAFEC, Board, president of the Middlesex County Farm Bureau, Vice President Mass Farm Bureau traveling many times to Washington D.C. to lobby for agriculture.
He also served the Town of Littleton as the Animal Control Officer for many years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Eunice P. (Pingry) Matheson and his dog Daisy his 5 children Donald A. Matheson of LaFargeville, NY, John L. Matheson of Depeyster ,NY, Jeanette Collett of South Portland, ME, Frank W. Matheson Jr. and Irving R. Matheson both of Littleton. 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren he was also predeceased by 2 sisters Agnes Matheson and Mora Barrows.
Matheson of Littleton, August 12, 2016 Frank W. Matheson Sr. Visiting Hrs. Tues 5-8 PM at the Badger Funeral Home 347 King St. Littleton. A Funeral Service will Be held Wed at the Funeral Home at 10 AM Burial to follow in Westlawn Cemetery Littleton.
