Frank Russell Millis of Ayer died at Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer on August 24, 2014. He was born in Westford November 23, 1930 and was raised in Westford by his parents, Willard Nathaniel Millis and Ruth Margaret (Miller) Millis.

Frank enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the young age of 17. He proudly served during the Korean Conflict. Frank served aboard 13 ships as a radioman, transmitting international Morse Code in a highly classified work environment. During his 21 years of service, he was variously stationed in Newport, Rhode Island; San Diego, California; Yokohama, Japan; and Alexandria, Virginia.
He continued working for the US Government at the US Post Office in Ayer and the Internal Revenue Service in Fitchburg. Frank was very proud to receive his GED at the age of 62.
He married Laurette (LeBlanc) Millis, in 1952 ? they celebrated their 61st anniversary in November of 2013. Frank and Laurette had a daily ritual of eating breakfast at various local restaurants. One was rarely seen without the other. Frank, known for his sense of humor, had the ability to lift anyone's spirits. He purchased numerous lottery tickets always hoping to win "the big one".
Frank (also called "Russ" or "Ga") is survived by his wife Laurette, daughter Sandra, grandson Yuri, great-grandson Jayden, and granddaughter Jillian. He is also mourned by his Navy buddy, Bob.
He was predeceased by siblings Everett Millis, Evelyn Duren, Willard Millis, Marjorie Bundy, Mildred Metcalf, and a son, Frank R. Millis Jr
.
Visiting hours will be held from 4-7PM on September 3rd . 2014 at the Badger Funeral Home 347 King St. Littleton. A private burial is scheduled for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in memory of Frank R. Millis, to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 2151, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38101-2151.
