Fred Hugel passed away peacefully on January 16. He was born on March 26, 1919, son of the late Charles and Ida Hugel.
Fred married Marguerite McLaughlin on September 26, 1943. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. His nature was honorable, gentle, strong, patient, and humble. His smile lit up the world, right to the end. He was smart and multi-talented. He was a lifelong fifer and drummer, a self-taught Mechanical Engineer, and a prolific woodworker and woodcarver. He even designed and built the house he and Marguerite raised their children in, and lived in until now.
He was an active servant of his church and community. Some of his long-term involvements were as Boy Scout leader, as Assistant Captain of Boxborough's Volunteer Fire Department, member of the Boxborough Minutemen, council member of the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, dedicated volunteer with special needs children, and Master of the Tahattawan Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his cherished wife Marguerite, his daughter Susan deGrandpre, his son Jeffrey, daughter-in-law Kate, grandchildren Caitlin and Tucker Hugel, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church . 16 Great Road, Sudbury MA, 01776 on Saturday January 24, 2015 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations I his name to the Church. Please see www.badgerfuneral.com
