George MacKay age 89 of Littleton passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018 at Emerson Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara Jane (Merklee) MacKay.
Born in Waltham on September 2, 1929 he was the son of the late James and Mary (MacKeigan) MacKay. George was raised and educated in Waltham. He enlisted in the United States Army proudly serving his country during the Korean War. Barbara and George married and settled in Littleton in 1955.
George was employed by Waltham Wallpaper and Paint as a wallpaper hanger for many years. Prior to his retirement he worked at Middlesex School in Concord maintaining the athletic department and grounds. During his spare time and retirement he enjoyed gardening which included maintaining his lawn and spending time in Raymond, Maine.
George is survived by his children, Sandra Swanson of Allenstown, NH and Barry MacKay of Littleton, his granddaughters; Melissa Lindsay of Nashua, NH, Heather Mortenson of Merrimack, NH and his great-granddaughter Madison.
Funeral services and interment with U.S. Army Military Honors at Westlawn Cemetery in Littleton were private.
