George Daniel Stewart

George Daniel Stewart, age 62, a 30 year resident of Fitchburg died May 24, 2011 at his residence after an extended illness surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Linda L. (Ingerson) Stewart of Fitchburg with whom he shared 41 years of marriage.
He was born in Nashua, NH on June 5, 1948, the son of the late Calvin A. and Evelyn (Fitch) Stewart. He was educated in the Pepperell School System and was a graduate of Lowell Technical High School.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam era, receiving the rank of Sergeant. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and many others.
Mr. Stewart was employed as an Auto Technician for Bib's Auto Repair in Sterling, MA for over 15 years until his illness. He was a Nascar enthusiast and loved to restore race cars.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, George Stewart, Jr. of Fitchburg; a daughter, Lynn Marie Snowden of Fitchburg; a brother, Calvin Stewart of Quincy; three sisters, Paulette Holden of Florida, Roberta Fernandez and her husband Wally of Pepperell; and Madeline Shank of Florida; one step-brother, Robert Fitch of Nashua, NH; three step-sisters, Sheryl Miller Soutra of Tennessee, Susan Brooks of Merrimack, NH and Sherry Fitch of NH; five grandchildren and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visiting hours at the Marchand Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Pepperell, MA on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pepperell. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Health Alliance Home Health and Hospice, 25 Tucker Drive, Leominster, MA 01453.
