Westford
George R. Young Sr. 87 of Westford, died at Mass General Hospital in Boston on April 24, 2014. A lifelong resident of Westford he graduated from the Westford School System. He worked for MIT, Millstone Hill as a Security Officer for 30 years.
George was a fire fighter for the town of Westford for 40 years and also served as Fire Chief.
Mr. Young was an avid New York Yankees fan, and loved his woodworking. He was a 65 year member of Tahattawan Masonic Lodge AF & AM of Littleton., a member of Faith Evangelical Free Church of Acton, and a dedicated volunteer at Camp Spofford, Spofford NH.
His survivors include his wife Betty Anne ( Edgar) Young, of Westford, 2 sons George R. Young Jr. of Lowell, Richard Young of Pepperell, a daughter Nancy Young of Westford, a twin brother Norman Young of Mason, NH, and sister Joan (Young) Woods of Chelmsford, 4 grandchildren, Scott Young, Angela (Young) Higgins, Keith Young, Kelly Young and 1 great grandchild Morgan Jayne Young.
A Memorial Service will be held at Faith Evangelical Free Church at a later date. A Private Burial was held Fairview Cemetery, Westford, MA
