Geraldine T. (Townsend) Forrest, age 86, a lifelong resident of Pepperell died Monday, January 14, 2013 at the Apple Valley Center in Ayer after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late John J. Forrest who died in 1978.
She was born in Pepperell on November 28, 1926 a daughter of the late William Seymour and Mary E. (Marshall) Townsend. She was educated in the Pepperell School System, graduated from Pepperell High School and continued her studies at Fay Business School in Boston. During her earlier years, she was a former member of the United Methodist Church in Pepperell. She was self-employed as a Dutchmaid representative for over 30 years and prior to her retirement in 1993, she was as a secretary at Montrath in Groton.
She leaves a son, Mark A. Forrest and his wife Cathy of Pepperell, four sisters, Marion Charpentier of Virginia, Jean Patton of Greenville, NH, Sheila Wyman and her husband Skeeter of Groton, and Kathy Rossbach and her husband Charles of Townsend, two grandchildren, Kevin Forrest and his wife Felicia of California, and Tara Jane Forrest of Connecticut, and three great grandchildren, Nolan Forrest, Kate Forrest, and Andrew Grigas. She was predeceased by a sister, Irene Hammond, two brothers, William and Donald Townsend, and a grandchild, Corinne Gramley-Grigas.
Visiting hours at the MARCHAND FUNERAL HOME, 16 Pleasant St., Pepperell on Friday, January 18, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. immediately followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pepperell.
