Geraldine Mary Perry

Geraldine (Geri) Mary Perry passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. She was the wife of the late Lawrence Francis Perry Jr., who passed away in 2000 (married in 1962). 

She was born on October 13, 1938, in Newton, Massachusetts to Jenny and Bill Marchi. She was the beloved mother to Maria Perry Kozul and Michael Perry. Geri was adored by her three grandchildren, Zoe Perry, Ted Perry, and Cameron Kozul.

After graduating from Wellesley College (class of 1960), Geri had many different careers. Her most cherished career was serving as Head of Children’s Services at the Groton Public Library for 27 years (1975 – 2002) at which time the Town of Groton proclaimed November 19, 2002, as Geri Perry Day. Once retired she returned to work part-time for another 16 years. For 43 years she introduced moms and dads to the joy of reading to their children and recommended just the right book for each young reader. 

Family, friends, and faith were very important to her. Annual family reunions to Deep Creek, Maryland, were cherished with her brother (Bill), sister-in-law (JoAnn), and nieces (Susan and Elizabeth). The two extended families roasted smores, kayaked, told stories, and played games into the night. 

A devout Catholic, who lived her faith, the Catholic Church and the community it provided were a source of comfort for her throughout her life. She never missed a Sunday or holy day mass and served as a church lector as well. 

May her legacy continue to inspire us, her memories continue to comfort us, and her love continue to unite us.

Family and friends will gather for calling hours on Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, at the Badger Funeral Home, 45 School Street, Groton, MA. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Of Grace - St. James Church, 13 St. James Ave., Groton, MA. A burial will be scheduled for Spring 2025.
