Germaine L. (Lagasse) Markham, age 97, a longtime resident of Pepperell died Sunday, July 15, 2012 at D'Youville Senior Care Center in Lowell after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late James E. Markham with whom she shared 15 years of marriage until his death in 1964.
She was born in Lowell on July 16, 1914, the daughter of the late Remi and Evelyn (Lacroix) Lagasse. She was educated in the Lowell School System. While living in Pepperell for most of her life, she was a communicant of St. Joseph Church serving as Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Parish Council and several committees and church functions.
She leaves a son, Deacon Michael J. Markham and his wife, Cecily of Pepperell, a sister, Ruth Trowbridge of Pepperell, two grandchildren, Leslie and Michael Markham. She is predeceased by her three brothers, Adrien Lagasse, Gerard Lagasse and Maurice Lagasse and four sisters, Annette Lagasse, Anita Lagasse, Lauretta Lagasse and Yvette Peabody.
There are no calling hours Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Parish worshipping at St. Joseph Church, 28 Tarbell Street, Pepperell. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, donations in Germaine's memory may be made to Our Lady of Grace Parish, 28 Tarbell Street, Pepperell, MA 01463. Burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, Pepperell. The MARCHAND FUNERAL HOME in Pepperell was in charge of arrangements.
