Gordon H. "Bud" Evans

Gordon "Bud" Herbert Evans, 90, of Still River, died Monday, May 8th, 2017 at Life Care Center of in Acton MA.

Born on April 4, 1927, in Concord MA to Lillian Evans/Ryan and Herbert Evans, Bud was raised in Ayer for most of his life. As a young man, Bud was in the Navy. After returning home, Bud had various jobs, including working at the grain store in Ayer, J. P. Sullivan Apple, and Feltus Pontiac all in Ayer. He met his future wife Marion Feltus at her father's dealership in Ayer: Feltus Pontiac. They were married in 1954. Shortly thereafter, Bud started his own excavating business.

In 1970, Bud and Marion started Evans Farm in Still River. Working side by side together, with their children Kim and Scott, they farmed their property and ran a vegetable stand. In later years, they opened a pick-your-own pumpkin business that included the sale of autumn vegetables, sunflowers, raspberries, corn, squash and more.

Bud will be remembered for his hard work ethic, resourcefulness, ingenuity and amazing talent to build, weld, fix, and operate all kinds of vehicles ranging from farm to heavy equipment. He was devoted to his family.

Bud was predeceased by his wife Marion who died in 2014. He is also predeceased by his siblings: sister Reba Dancause (and her husband George), sister Frederika Bice, brother Sherman Evans and half brother Bill Evans. Bud also leaves daughter Kim Becker of Ayer and her husband Doug; son Scott Evans of Harvard, and his wife Allison: and his six grandchildren, Rick, Ellie, Nicholas, Gwyneth, Wyatt and Morgan.

Family and friends will gather for a memorial service on Saturday, June 10, at 2:00 pm in the Great Hall located on the 2nd floor at the Ayer Town Hall,1 Main Street, Ayer. A reception with light refreshments will follow.
