Grosvenor Raymond Borgmann

April 19, 1943 — June 11, 2016

Grosvenor (Grove) Raymond Borgmann, Jr., age 73, of Groton, MA, lost his long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease June 11th, 2016, in the arms of his beloved wife of 47 years, Ingrid.  He died at the VA Hospital GRECC Center in Bedford MA. Born April 19, 1943 in Newton MA, to the late Grosvenor R. and Rosamond (Spidle) Borgmann, Grove was the older of two children.  Grove grew up in Littleton MA, where he enjoyed being with his friends and helping his Dad in the family bicycle shop.  After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving on the destroyer DDR714, William R. Rush.  While serving he toured the Mediterranean and helped defend our country in Guantanamo Bay during the Cuban Missile Crisis.  While stationed in Key West, he participated in the filming of the "PT 109." Shortly after his honorable discharge, he met his lifelong love, Ingrid, and they began their life together. Grove made his career in telecommunications, supporting the growth and development of many technologies we enjoy today.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, loved his dogs and had a special fondness for antique cars and their owners, as evidenced by his 42 year membership in the TY-RODS  Club.  Grove’s quiet nature, combined with his dancing, mischievous eyes, kind heart and engaging smile, endeared him to all. Grove is survived by his wife, Ingrid; his brother Mark and his wife Patrice, of Dennis MA; brother-in-law Rolf Ketelaar and his wife Claire Ketelaar, of East Harwich MA; sister-in-law Christa McCauley, of Germantown NY; nieces Heather K. Vincent, of Gainesville FL and Joyce I. McCauley, of Germantown NY, nephews Scott Ketelaar, of Pelham NH, Peter McCauley, of St. Paul MN, Peter Borgmann, of Brighton MA and Calvin Borgmann, of Montpelier VT.  He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends.  Not wanting a wake or funeral, Grove requested that we, his family and friends, remember him the way he was, and raise a glass in his honor with the beverage of your choice.

Grove's family would like to extend our gratitude to the CNAs, LPNs and  RNs of the VA GRECC Center at the Bedford VA Hospital for his daily gentle care.  Memorial donations may be made in Grove’s name through www.alz.org.  For other information, please contact Badger Funeral Home, 45 School Street, Groton MA 01450,  (978)448-6782, or sign the online guestbook at www.badgerfuneral.com
