Ingrid B. DiMase of Littleton, MA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on August 10, 2025, at the age of 97.
Born in 1928 in Rendsburg, Germany, Ingrid was the eldest of three daughters to Fritz and Elfrida Bruessler. She is predeceased by her sister Brigette and survived by her sister Dagmar of Bavaria, Germany.
Ingrid was known for her radiant positivity and resilience, shaped by extraordinary experiences during World War II, in which she narrowly escaped death multiple times. Despite the hardships, she never lost her zest for life or the deep love she held for her family.
After the loss of her husband, John F. DiMase, in 1990, Ingrid spent a decade living independently in Florida. There, she warmly hosted friends and family, always ensuring guests were well cared for and well fed. It was during this time that she began studying the Bible and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses—a faith she remained devoted to for the rest of her life.
In 2000, Ingrid moved to Massachusetts to be closer to her family. She lived independently until age 85, after which she moved in with her son John and his wife Lois, who tenderly cared for her in her final years.
To know Ingrid was to be touched by her graciousness, strength, and joy. Described by many as genuine, unselfish, fearless, and loving, she was affectionately known simply as “Gramma” to all who knew her. Visitors always left her home uplifted—laughing, encouraged, and enriched by her wisdom. She asked for little: a hug, a good conversation, and maybe some “Shocolate” to share.
Ingrid deeply looked forward to the fulfillment of God’s promise at Revelation 21:4:“And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
She is predeceased by her husband, John F. DiMase, and is survived by her children: John F. W. DiMase and his wife Lois of Littleton, MA; Frank DiMase of Clinton, MA; Georg DiMase of Frederick, MD; and Vincent DiMase of Claremont, NH. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren—Heather, John, Timothy, Sarah, Michelle, Emily, and Allison—and five great-grandchildren: Tristan, Dylan, Travis, Alex, and Theo.
A memorial talk in Ingrid’s honor will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 3:00 PM at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2 School St., Maynard, MA.
