James Alton Black, 68, of Groton MA went on to Glory, May 23rd, 2016 at the Apple Valley Center in Ayer, MA surrounded by his loved ones. Born March 13th, 1948 in Red Springs, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Herman Lee and Queen Esther Black. James was a U.S Army Vietnam veteran and had been employed at Raytheon in North Andover, MA.


James is survived by his wife Jocelyn of Groton MA, three children, Vanessa Boyce LeDuc, Andre Boyce and James Alton Black Jr., all of Lowell MA, a stepdaughter Olivia Ekeh of Groton MA, two brothers, Willie Black of Florence KY and Glen Black and his wife, Vivian of Pleasant Gap PA, a sister, Terri Black of Groton MA, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He was recently predeceased in death by his mother, Queen and younger brother, Robert L. Black.Visiting hours will be held at Badger Funeral Home in Groton, MA  2-5 PM on Monday May 30th. A service will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 31st at 12 PM.
