Jane E. Mears, of Harvard, Ma, died January 7, 2017. A resident of Harvard since 1974, she served on the town's school committee. Born in Ridgeway, South Carolina, she graduated from The University of South Carolina and worked as a social worker in Charleston, SC. She will be remembered for her good humor and southern accent.
She is survived by her husband, Tom, of Harvard; her children Julia of Minneapolis and Dorsey of York, ME and their spouses Greg Yager and Paula Drouin; her sisters Marion of Columbia SC and Nancy of Tallahassee, FL and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made the Harvard Council in Aging, 13 Ayer Road, Harvard, MA, 01451.
