Janice H. (Dykhuizen) Mudgett

January 8, 1932 — October 16, 2021

Janice Dykhuizen Mudgett, age 89, previous resident of Hudson, MA and formerly a longtime resident of Harvard, MA passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at the Masconomet Healthcare Center in Topsfield, MA. She was the wife of 60 years to the late Kenneth E. Mudgett.

Janice was born in Burlington, VT on January 8, 1932. She attended Burlington High School and graduated from the University of Vermont. After graduation she began a lifelong career as a teacher having taught elementary school in Burlington, VT, Concord, MA, Harvard, MA and Littleton, MA where she eventually retired in 1995.

In her retirement, Jan and husband Ken traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe. She was an avid collector and gathered souvenirs from everywhere she visited. Janice also took up painting and sketching in her retirement and created numerous works of art for family and friends.
Janice was a kind and loving person with a wonderful sense of humor. Her cheerful smile will be missed by many dear friends, family, and acquaintances. She was a dedicated member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, PEO Sisterhood and the Harvard Congregational Church.

Janice is survived by her son Mark and his wife Elizabeth of Boxford, MA, son David and his wife Karen of Burlington, CT and grandchildren Lauren, Matthew, Katelynn, Michael, and John.

She was pre-deceased by her parents Professor George and Helen (Young) Dykhuizen and her sister Phyllis (Dykhuizen) Powell.

A private family graveside service will be held at Bellevue Cemetery, Harvard, MA.
