Jeannette B. (Chartier) Sarmento

September 23, 1945 — March 16, 2018

Jeannette B. (Chartier) Sarmento age 72 of Chelmsford formerly of Lowell passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Lowell General Hospital. She was the wife of Paul Sarmento.

Born in Billerica on September 23, 1945, she was the youngest of eleven children to Victor and Jeannette M. (Poirier) Chartier. Raised and educated in Tewksbury, she graduated from Tewksbury High School. Jeannette also lived in Lowell, Groton and Townsend throughout her life.

Jeannette worked for many years for Market Basket in the Accounts Payable Department where she met many long-time friends.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing bingo and singing with her siblings at family reunions, practical jokes with family, friends and co-workers.

Along with her husband Paul she is survived by her loving children, John G. Mendonca of North Charleston, SC, Suzanne M. Dennehy of Littleton, her cherished grandchildren Steven J. Mendonca, Hannah M. Mendonca, Leah Dennhey, Jack Dennhey and James Dennhey and her former husband John G. Mendonca, Sr. of Littleton. She was the loving sister of Rose Caisse, Eva Gigure, Victor Chartier and the late Paul Chartier, Jacqueline Ashe, William Chartier, Margarette Arpin, Gerard Chartier, Jean Arpin and Shirley Carr and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather for Jeannette's funeral mass on Saturday, March 24 at 9:00 am at St. Anne's Church, 75 King St., Littleton. Burial will be private.
