Jimmie William Beene, 77, and longtime resident of Townsend, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022 at Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer surrounded by his family.
Born in Kingsport, TN on June 5, 1945, Jimmie was a son to the late William Rex and Jimmie M. (Moss) Beene. As a son of a career soldier, Jimmie was raised and educated all over the world including, Japan, Iceland, Tennessee, and Colorado where he graduated from High School. From there, Jimmie moved back to Kingsport where he attended college at earning his degree in architecture.
In 1983, Jimmie moved to Groton, Massachusetts, and later Townsend. He went back to school to become an electrician, a career he grew to love. Jimmie enjoyed his work and loved fixing and driving old cars. He spent most of his free time fine tuning his 1969 and ’72 Mercedes. He loved driving to and from events on the open road in a convoy of classic Mercedes touring the car shows of New York and Pennsylvania. Jimmie was a devoted brother, uncle, a gentle and kind animal lover and a great friend. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jimmie is survived by his sister, Linda and her husband Sam Leibig of Groton and their children; Jimmy, Adam, Amy, and Dusty-Lynn. He is also survived by his cousin Mary Jo of AK. In addition to his parents, Jimmie is predeceased by his niece, Deborah Anne.
Services for Jimmie will be held privately. He will be laid to rest beside his parents in Groton Cemetery.
