With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Joan B. Gebhardt, who left us on December 6, 2025, embraced by her family.
Born in Annapolis, MD, on December 2, 1938, Joan was a woman with a quick wit who brought warmth and laughter into our world. She made friends with everyone and was always running into someone she knew no matter where she was. Her generosity touched the hearts of her family, friends, and the many colleagues and clients she warmly connected with throughout her career in customer service within the banking sector.
Joan was an amazing wife, mother, and friend—a woman of countless virtues and the epitome of strength, love and kindness. Her loving spirit is etched in the hearts of all fortunate enough to know her.
Her infectious wit made every encounter delightful. Joan enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and loved nothing more than vacationing on Cape Cod, a treasured retreat that brought her peace.
Joan and her children were incredibly close, and they saw her not just as a mom, but as their best friend.
She leaves behind her son John Harris, and her daughter Jennifer Gebhardt Horn and her husband David Horn. She was “Grammy” to five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her family extended to three dogs and one three-legged cat she absolutely adored.
Joan is preceded in death by her beloved husband, David A. Gebhardt, her eldest son, James (Jay) Harris Jr. and her close and treasured friend, Gilma Langevin.
Joan's absence will be deeply felt, but her memory will live on, as vibrant and lively as she was. We invite all who knew Joan to visit her memorial page. Please share your most treasured memories of Joan and upload any photos you may have of her. Let us celebrate her life together, remembering the joy, love, and laughter she brought into our lives.
