Joan E. Hirtle

Joan E. Hirtle age 87 of Haverhill formerly of Littleton passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, November 18, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was the loving and devoted wife of the late Allen C. Hirtle.

Born in Quincy on August 20, 1931 she was the daughter of the late Herbert H. and Elsie (Whitehead) Price. Joan was raised and educated in Quincy, MA, graduating from North Quincy High School in 1949. She went on to attend Fisher Junior College earning her Associates Degree in 1951. Joan married Allen on April 16, 1955 and settled in Braintree. They later moved to Littleton where they became devoted members of the Trinity Church in Concord.

Joan was a member of the Littleton Garden Club for many years. She will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her kindness towards others, and her love for animals.

She is survived by her children, Christopher R. Hirtle of Haverhill, Andrew D. Hirtle of Worcester and Sarah A. Glaser of Honolulu, HI and her grandchildren Harrison and Jensen Glaser.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Joan on Sunday, Nov 25 from 3:00-5:00 pm in the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King St., Littleton. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, Nov 26 at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Following the service, Joan will be laid to rest at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Acton.
