Pepperell – John H. Cotton, Sr., age 95, a lifelong resident of Pepperell died Saturday, April 19, 2014 at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Edwina M. (McCarthy) Cotton with whom he shared almost 70 years of marriage.
He was born in Pepperell on May 15, 1919, the son of the late Henry Ward Beecher Cotton and Kathryn (Fischer) Cotton. Mr. Cotton served in the Army Air Corps during World War II receiving the rank of First Lieutenant. He worked at the St. Regis Paper Company and owned the John H. Cotton Plumbing and Heating Company for over 40 years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Parish, worshipping at St. Joseph Church.
Besides his wife of almost 70 years, he leaves his daughter, Pamela Waldo and her husband Peter of Pepperell; two sons, Joseph M. Cotton and his wife Linda of Westford and John P. Cotton and his wife Joanne of Edgecomb, Maine; 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.There are no calling hours. A funeral mass will be offered on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Parish, worshipping at St. Joseph Church, 28 Tarbell Street, Pepperell. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
