John Charles "Jack" Doyle, 78, a longtime resident of Littleton, passed away peacefully at his home on June 6, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, on December 17, 1947, Jack was the son of the late Helen R. (Doyle) Lima. Growing up in Lowell as the youngest of two children, he spent his youth fishing, riding his bike across town, and visiting his close-knit family of uncles and cousins. As a young man, Jack answered the call to serve his country, joining the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, where he was stationed on a ship off the coast of the Philippines. Following his military service, he married the love of his life, Ann (Bernard) Doyle, and became a deeply involved, lifelong member of the American Legion Post 313 in North Chelmsford.
Jack built a dedicated career at Digital Equipment Corporation in Marlborough, Massachusetts. Though heart disease forced an early retirement, Jack refocused his time on the things that brought him simple joy. He became an avid tracker of regional yard sales, traveling far and wide to hunt for hidden treasures. He also possessed a lifelong love for dogs, sharing his home with many loyal companions over the years, most notably his beloved late dogs, Oreo and Max. He was a passionate New England sports fan through and through, and he was rarely seen without his signature ball cap.
Above all else, Jack was a devoted family man. He was a simple man who never asked for much; as long as his family was near, he was happy. He gave fiercely to those he cared about and never hesitated to help anyone in need. He was a central figure in the lives of his grandchildren and was absolutely overjoyed to become a great-grandfather. Jack was a profoundly strong man who survived many of life's heavy obstacles, carrying the enduring, daily grief of losing his children, Jill and Jared. Yet, he continued to make the absolute most of his life, anchoring his family with love and resilience.
Jack’s legacy of love lives on through his surviving family: his devoted wife of many years, Ann (Bernard) Doyle formerly of Tewksbury, MA; his beloved daughter, Kimberly Doyle of Dracula, MA; and his five cherished grandchildren, Ryan Doyle of Nashua, NH, Kaycee Miles of Santa Barbara, CA, Joshua Martin of Dracut, MA, Jaylen Doyle of Peterborough, NH, and Cali Doyle of Littleton, MA, whom Jack and Ann had been raising and living with. He is also survived by his adored five-year-old great-grandson, Jeremiah Casias of Santa Barbara, CA; his sister-in-law, Janet Bernard of Florida; and a large, loving network of nieces, cousins, and close friends.
Jack has been peacefully reunited with those who went before him, including his mother, Helen (Doyle) Lima; his sister, Joan Joyce; and his deeply missed children, Jill Doyle and Jared Doyle.
