Groton, Massachusetts.   It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Edward Harrington, known fondly as Jack Harrington, on the 6th of October, 2023. Jack peacefully passed away at Emerson Hospital in Concord, Massachusetts, at age 78. His absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but those who knew him will forever cherish his memory.

Born on the 28th of May 1945 in Fall River, Massachusetts, Jack was a man of unwavering dedication, integrity, and devotion to his loved ones. He was a pillar of strength and a loving husband to his beloved wife, Bert (Santos) Harrington. They were married for nearly 50 years. John was a guiding light in the life of his cherished daughter, Kathleen Harrington, his younger daughter, Stephanie Harrington, and his grandson. Jack's commitment to his family was unparalleled, and their bond was a testament to the love and warmth he exuded.

Throughout his life, Jack excelled in his chosen profession as an accountant. With his sharp intellect and meticulous attention to detail, he made significant contributions to the field. Jack's journey of knowledge began at Bishop Stang High School, which laid the foundation for his future academic pursuits. He continued his educational endeavors at Merrimack College and Suffolk University, honing his skills and becoming a respected authority in the realm of accounting.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jack found solace and joy in life's simple pleasures. He treasured the moments spent with his family, creating memories that will forever be etched in their hearts. Whether sharing laughter and stories around the family table or embarking on cherished adventures, Jack's warm and caring nature radiated, leaving an indelible mark on all those blessed to have known him.

John was predeceased by his parents, Pauline Harrington, and Francis Harrington, as well as his brother, Francis Harrington Jr. He was also predeceased by his beloved in-laws Arlene and Louis Santos, who thought of him as a son.  

As we bid farewell to a beloved husband, father, and friend, let us find solace in the legacy Jack Harrington leaves behind. His presence in our lives was a gift, and his memory will continue to inspire and guide us. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory be a source of comfort and strength for us all.
